HBK welcomes MicroStrain Sensing Systems to the family
HBK is pleased to welcome MicroStrain Sensing Systems to the family following the successful completion of the acquisition by Spectris plc (SXS: LSE). This acquisition, valued at $37.6 million (£29.4 million), has now been approved through a comprehensive regulatory process in the United States.
Spectris announced its intention to acquire MicroStrain from Parker Hannifin Corporation (NYSE: PH)) back in June. With the integration into HBK, MicroStrain will operate under the name ‘MicroStrain by HBK’.
Located in Vermont, MicroStrain is widely recognised for its expertise in designing and manufacturing high-precision inertial and wireless sensing systems. Its products cater to the industrial and tactical-grade sector within the inertial sensing systems market. The recent increase in demand from industrial automation, as well as emerging fields like robotics, logistics, automation, unmanned vehicles, and mobility applications, has contributed significantly to MicroStrain’s growth. They serve a diverse network of blue-chip customers, including renowned pioneers in the robotics and autonomous equipment industries.
Ben Bryson, President of HBK said: “We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of MicroStrain,. This move strengthens our North American presence, enhances our customer offering, and expands our presence in robotics and agriculture. We are excited to leverage these technologies to accelerate our smart sensor capabilities and drive innovation for our customers. This is a significant investment and reinforces our ‘Empower the Innovators’ strategy providing exceptional sensing and insights to create solutions for a cleaner, healthier and more productive world.”
Kimberly Miller, Executive Vice President of the In Process Business Unit, added: “I am very excited about the addition of the MicroStrain products and talents to the In-Process Business Unit. The addition of inertial sensing and increasing our wireless portfolio for current and adjacent customers opens markets and strengthens our solution offerings. These products will enhance our Smart Sensor platform as well as increase our OEM offering of custom embedded sensing and solutions.”
