KUKA Shows Easy Access to Automated Welding at FABTECH 2023

With the goal of providing efficiency and cost-effectiveness, KUKA Robotics featured its KUKA KR CYBERTECH nano ARC "Edition" robot specifically for providing manufacturers the entry level means to incorporate automated arc welding into their processes. For price-sensitive markets, the robot offers an ideal cost-benefit ratio within the current KUKA technology portfolio. Initially, the KR CYBERTECH nano ARC will be offered in two "Edition" variants, with other KUKA robots to follow.

Edition robots draw on the current KUKA technology portfolio, including the newly updated KR CYBERTECH nano series, the latest-generation KR C5 controller and appropriate welding software, such as KUKA.ArcTech Basic. The variant offers simplified, focused and reliable technology as well as significantly lowering procurement costs.

The KR CYBERTECH nano ARC Edition robot handles payloads of 6 kg and installs on floors or ceilings. To match requirements in the entry-level segment, KUKA offers two versions of the “Edition” robot: one with a reach of up to 1,440 mm and one with a reach of 2,010 mm. The standard version uses a 50-millimeter hollow wrist with bearings on one side, while the Edition robot features a hollow wrist with bearings on both sides, a diameter of 46 mm and 0.04 mm repeatability.

As with all KUKA automation solutions, those shown at FABTECH 2023 are backed by the company’s expert service and support for training, complete system engineering and simulation, readily available spare parts, robot refurbishment and more. All of which are easily accessible through the my.KUKA.com site, and KUKA maintains corporate offices and production operations, along with integration partner facilities, conveniently located throughout North America to provide responsive customer service and support.
