AIMS Metrology Brings Full Range Of Turnkey 5-Axis CMM Technology To IMTS 2022
Rapid part changes, raw material bottlenecks and labor shortages continue to drive demand for multisensor inspection with the option to automate. AIMS Metrology will demonstrate its full range of turnkey 5-axis coordinate measuring machines at IMTS The OEM’s Revolution Series Summit 10.10.10, LM and HB provide accurate, flexible three-dimensional inspection of small to large inprocess and post-process parts on the shop floor, in the lab or in an automated cell.
AIMS designed its CMMs to integrate with Renishaw 5-axis probe technology. The Summit, the OEM’s newest CMM, was prompted by customer requests for large inspection capacity enhanced with REVO-2’s latest sensors such as RVP vision and SFP2 surface measurement. AIMS’ labgrade LM also offers multisensor capabilities with REVO-2 which provides measuring speeds up to 500 mm/second and data collection rates of up to 4,000 points per second for increased part throughput. The mobile HB, fitted with a 5-axis PH20, can be placed on or near a production line to provide dimensional verification and process flow monitoring in real time.
Unlike other OEMs, AIMS tailors its CMMs to customers’ software requirements with MODUS, Verisurf or CMM Manager. “We’re a single source provider that builds and assembles our CMMs in the U.S.,” says Mark Gearding, vice-president for AIMS. “We have an in-house service group and application team that allows us to customize the CMM to a job shop or fabricator’s needs. That includes programming, custom holding fixtures, tooling, automation, service and support.”
With lead times for new and leased equipment continuing to grow, AIMS’ proactive business model supports job shops and manufacturers on another front. “We maintain a stock of parts to assemble machines,” Gearding says. “In addition to custom orders, we build machines without purchase orders to help counter the parts shortage and supply delays.”
