CGTech has released Vericut 9.7, the latest version of its CNC simulation and verification software, alongside Icam Post V27. Both releases focus on performance, AI-assisted guidance, and tighter workflow integration rather than changes to the core simulation engine.
The headline feature for most shops is the expanded Vericut Assistant. Putting context-aware help behind F2 inside the software cuts the time a programmer spends flipping between the manual and the UI. For a mould and die shop running 50+ post-processors, that adds up.
Icam Post V27 ships alongside, with the new Regression Testing Utility being the one to watch. Comparing NC output before and after a post-processor change is exactly the kind of validation step most shops skip, then regret.

CGTech has released Vericut 9.7, the latest version of its CNC simulation, verification and optimisation software, alongside Icam Post V27 for post-processor development. Both releases are positioned around performance, AI-assisted guidance, and tighter workflow integration rather than changes to the core simulation engine.
Vericut 9.7 keeps the same machine-level accuracy foundation — collision detection, G-code verification, motion simulation — that has been CGTech's benchmark for years. The 9.7 work is in performance and workflow. Simulation, verification, and review all get measurable speed improvements on larger NC programs, which matters as parts get more complex and prove-out windows shrink. The release is aimed at teams running complex 5-axis work, high-value materials, and tight production schedules — aerospace, defence, medical, mould and die, energy, and general manufacturing.
The main user-facing addition is the expanded Vericut Assistant, CGTech's AI-powered in-software help. The assistant now provides context-aware guidance directly inside the UI, accessible via the F2 hotkey, covering advanced workflows and answers to "how do I..." questions. For shops where programmers spend real time flipping between the manual and the application, this is a tangible reduction in friction.
Tool Manager gets a substantial update too, with the goal of simplifying tool organisation across increasingly complex tooling environments. The improvements are about visibility and faster access to tooling data rather than new toolpath features — useful for shops running dozens of tool families across multiple machines.
Alongside Vericut 9.7, Icam Post V27 introduces a Regression Testing Utility that compares NC output before and after post-processor changes, validates updates before deployment, and identifies machine-impacting differences. The release also adds AI-assisted guidance inside QUEST and GENER, improved debugging through Breakpoint Manager and Macro Manager, and better runtime visibility for large programs. For post-developers, the practical value is in faster debugging, fewer manual checks, and more reliable NC output when upgrading CAM software or modifying posts.
