Fronius's iWave platform bundles three advanced welding
- processes—ArcTig, Plasma, and TIG Hotwire—into a single system,
- targeting manufacturers who need flexibility across stainless steel,
- mild steel, and additive repair jobs without swapping equipment.
- ArcTig welds stainless steel up to 10 mm and steel up to 8 mm
- without seam preparation, cutting pre-weld labour time.
- Plasma welding uses an electrode inside the nozzle to prevent
- deposits, extending consumable life and reducing downtime.
- TIG Hotwire preheats filler wire to boost melting performance while
- limiting dilution—critical for precision build-up and repair work.
- PushPull wire feed supports torch-to-source distances up to 18 m,
- keeping the arc stable during large-radius robot movements.
- All three processes run on the same iWave power source, simplifying
- fleet management and operator training on the shop floor.
The Fronius iWave now has even more to offer. An expanded range of processes is available, delivering impressive results in terms of speed, seam quality, and precision.
What's new?
ArcTig and Plasma \- weld up to twice as fast
In both cases, you can weld perfect seams without seam preparation – up to 10 mm for stainless steel and up to 8 mm for steel. ArcTig is also very easy to use and configure, while Plasma, the electrode located inside the nozzle, protects against deposits and thus enables long service life.
TIG Hotwire
Fast, precise build-up welding with high melting performance:
The preheated filler wire enables impressive melting performance while reducing material mixing.
PushPull: stable welding process even with a large radius of action
An additional wire feed on the torch ensures stability and precision. Especially with challenging geometries and expansive robot movements, the wire feed always remains stable – with wire feed distances of up to 18 m!

M4S TAKE
My take: AI claims need scrutiny. The useful implementations reduce cycle time or defect rates in measurable ways. Vague promises about 'optimization' without specific metrics are usually marketing.
