Renishaw has announced the launch of its new XC100 environmental compensator, set to debut at IMTS 2026 and AMB 2026. The system builds on Renishaw's proven XC-80 technology and delivers real-time automatic wavelength correction with an improved 0.4 ppm linear laser measurement accuracy.
Closing the environmental variable
Laser calibration is only as trustworthy as the conditions in which it's performed. Air temperature, air pressure, and relative humidity all influence measured laser wavelength, and the XC100 addresses each: it measures all three parameters and automatically adjusts the measured wavelength in real time. It also measures material temperature, which enables calibration results from machines operating at different temperatures to be normalised to a standard temperature — a practical answer to a persistent source of inconsistency when comparing results across machines or sessions.
Designed to fit existing workflows
Compatibility matters here. The XC100 works with the XL-80 laser interferometer, the XM-60 and XM-600 multi-axis calibrators, and CARTO software, so it slots into Renishaw's existing calibration product range rather than demanding a new one.
Flexibility extends to hardware configuration. The system supports any combination of air and material sensors, allowing comprehensive measurement of environmental conditions throughout the machine volume. A high-resolution LCD touchscreen display, flexible sensor configuration, and versatile mounting options round out a package designed to adapt to a range of calibration applications rather than the other way around.
