Strong Interest in Compact Deburring Solutions – Positive Momentum at Blechexpo 2025

Customer and visitor feedback at the LISSMAC stand at Blechexpo was overwhelmingly positive, showing a clear rise in investment interest across the sheet metal industry - particularly in compact, automated deburring solutions.

Among the highlights was the automation concept presented with the compact SBM-XS deburring machine, which impressed with its intelligent, space-saving design and seamless integration into existing workflows. The enthusiasm on-site confirmed what the market signals: efficient, easy-to-implement automation is becoming a key driver for productivity in modern sheet metal processing. “Work smarter, not harder” is surely more than just marketing blurb, but a manifesto that European manufacturers will need to embrace to remain competitive in the current environment of globalisation and cost pressure.

Automation That Works Smarter

At Blechexpo, the compact deburring solution SBM-XS drew strong interest and highly positive

feedback. Together with gripping specialist Schmalz, a new automation solution was developed that combines AI-driven control and 3D vision technology. This enables the system to identify and handle parts of up to 10 kg with dimensions of 200 x 300 mm. In combination with a double-sided deburring machine, it delivers fully autonomous operation in a footprint no larger than a Euro pallet. No programming knowledge required.

The Digital Assistant on the Shop Floor

In the market for over two years, still receiving praise: The LISSMAC set up assistant LISA. With LISA, LISSMAC has developed a control system that redefines the setup process. Instead of countless manual adjustments, operators only provide a few key details: application, sheet thickness, part size, material, and burr level. From there, LISA does the rest. Feed speed, aggregate selection, and adjustment are automatically optimized to achieve the desired results.

Behind the system are tried-and-tested application recipes from the LISSMAC technology center. These can be customized, saved, and even recalled with a simple barcode scan. What once took valuable minutes now takes only seconds. Efficiency you can feel immediately.

operators are guided by clear visuals, intuitive icons, and a user-friendly interface that even first-time users understand right away. My take: capacity expansions signal confidence, but the real question is whether demand justifies the spend. I watch for follow-up announcements about utilization rates or new contracts. Without those, this is just capital allocation.
