Analog Devices Inc. has renewed its commitment as a strategic sponsor to MassRobotics, continuing a partnership aimed squarely at one of the hardest parts of building a robotics company: turning prototypes into commercial-ready hardware.

The Wilmington, Mass.-based semiconductor company supports MassRobotics' efforts to nurture robotics startups, and the renewal keeps ADI's technical expertise inside the accelerator's startup community. MassRobotics is one of the world's leading robotics startup accelerators, and the Boston-based organization has helped launch dozens of robotics companies while serving as a gateway for international firms entering the U.S. market.

Why the sponsorship matters for hardware founders

Robotics startups face a different cost structure than software companies, and MassRobotics' leadership is direct about that reality.

"We are excited to welcome ADI back as a cornerstone sponsor," stated Joyce Sidopoulos, co-founder and chief of operations at MassRobotics. "Developing hardware and advanced robotics is notoriously capital- and engineering-intensive. Having ADI's technical expertise and mentorship directly accessible to our startup community is a great asset for accelerating the development of commercial-ready physical systems."

Analog Garage combines technical expertise, seed funding, and engineering resources to turn innovations into real products. For MassRobotics startups, the practical benefit is direct access to ADI's advanced sensor, signal processing, and power management technologies — the building blocks that often determine whether a robot design can hit its performance and cost targets.

ADI's view of the partnership

"ADI has positioned itself as an innovation partner in helping industry move towards an autonomous future by applying our breakthrough technology concepts to the hardest problems," said Colm Prendergast, senior director and head of the Emerging Tech Hub at Analog Garage. "We look forward to offering our complementary engineering services and domain expertise to help these founders scale their technical visions faster."

A busy fall event schedule

ADI will carry the partnership into a series of robotics ecosystem events in the coming months.

ADI will also be part of the Robotics Startup Bootcamp at RoboBusiness on Oct. 20 and 21 in Santa Clara, Calif. At the same event, Sidopoulos will speak at the Women in Robotics Lunch alongside Bhavana Chandrashekhar, senior manager of Applied Science at Amazon Robotics.

For manufacturing professionals watching the robotics pipeline, the signal here is straightforward: an established component supplier is embedding its engineers and technology directly into the startup layer, where the next generation of automation hardware is being designed.
