Eaton has opened its third additive manufacturing site, establishing a new European Centre of Additive Manufacturing in Wimborne, U.K. The facility sits within the company's existing aerospace manufacturing campus and is aimed squarely at production-scale work — not prototyping.
Localised Production for Regional Programs
For engineers working on certified hardware, the pitch is straightforward: shorter paths from design to flight-qualified parts.

Integrated Workflow, Higher Throughput
The facility integrates design, engineering, 3D printing, and validation under one roof — the full chain required to take a component from model to qualified part without handing it off between sites. It also houses Eaton's largest metal additive manufacturing system, which the company says is capable of delivering up to twice the productivity of previous platforms for complex, safety-critical components.
That last qualifier matters. Doubling throughput on development hardware is one thing; doing it on safety-critical parts, where process control and traceability dominate the cost structure, is where production-scale AM actually earns its place.
What's Next: Titanium, EBM, and Certification
Eaton is not treating Wimborne as a finished configuration. The company plans to expand the facility's capabilities to support high-reliability commercial and military programs.

The AS9100 work is worth watching — certification is the gate that separates an impressive machine installation from a qualified production source for aerospace customers.
