The Agreement
LG and NVIDIA have signed a memorandum of understanding that pushes their collaboration out of the planning stage and into physical execution. The agreement was signed on August 13 at NVIDIA's headquarters in Santa Clara, California, with Kwang Mo Koo, Chairman and CEO of LG Corp, and Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, in attendance.
The scope is wide: humanoid robots, wheel-based factory robots, AI factory infrastructure, and automotive computing. A joint Task Force comprising technical and business experts from both companies will drive execution across these workstreams.
A Bipedal Humanoid on NVIDIA Silicon
LG is developing a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot using NVIDIA Isaac GR00T, NVIDIA's open reasoning humanoid foundation model, with NVIDIA Jetson Thor providing onboard compute. The humanoid is planned for a public unveiling in the first quarter of next year.
The build draws on "One LG" capabilities spanning LG Electronics, LG Innotek, and LG Energy Solution. Notably, LG is not betting everything on NVIDIA's stack. The company plans to actively use NVIDIA Isaac GR00T while continuing to advance its own AI model capabilities, and the collaboration aims to strengthen LG's in-house Robot Foundation Model (RFM) development.
CLOiD Heads to the Tennessee Line
The more immediate manufacturing story is on wheels. Within this year, LG will deploy LG CLOiD, a wheel-based robot, to the LG Electronics washing machine manufacturing line in Tennessee. This is a validation deployment in a real production environment — the kind of proving ground that separates demonstration robots from production assets.
Supporting this is a robot data factory powered by LG CNS PhysicalWorks, LG's robot data platform, handling the data pipeline needed to train and refine the robots.
AI Factories: Reference Site First, Then 80 MW
LG will use the NVIDIA DSX AI factory architecture alongside its "One LG" capabilities in AI infrastructure. The roadmap has two milestones: an AI factory reference site powered by NVIDIA Vera Rubin in the first half of 2027, followed by an 80 MW scale AI Factory in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, by the first half of 2028.
The end goal is a validated "One LG end-to-end AI factory solution" — positioning LG to package and sell proven AI factory infrastructure rather than just operate it.
The Automotive Angle
Rounding out the agreement, LG is developing an AI-defined vehicle platform built on NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion. LG plans to provide global OEMs with next-generation automotive solutions integrating autonomous driving features with in-cabin AI services.
For manufacturing professionals, the Tennessee CLOiD deployment is the piece to watch — it's the nearest-term test of whether this partnership delivers on the factory floor.
