LG and NVIDIA have signed a memorandum of understanding at NVIDIA’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California, establishing a program that spans robotics, manufacturing validation, AI infrastructure and vehicle computing.
The agreement brings together Kwang Mo Koo, Chairman and CEO of LG Corp, and Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA. Its scope is broader than a single product development effort: it connects a bipedal humanoid, a wheel-based factory robot, a robot data factory, AI factory construction and an automotive computing platform.
Robots enter the manufacturing line
LG is developing a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot using NVIDIA Isaac GR00T and NVIDIA Jetson Thor. The humanoid is planned for a public unveiling in the first quarter of next year.
The collaboration will also put robotics directly into an LG production operation. Within this year, LG will deploy CLOiD, a wheel-based robot, to the LG Electronics washing machine manufacturing line in Tennessee.
That deployment gives the agreement an immediate manufacturing objective. Rather than remaining confined to development, the robotics work will be tested through site validation in an operating production environment.
Data and AI factories support the robotics roadmap
The collaboration includes building a robot data factory powered by LG CNS PhysicalWorks. This signals that the companies are addressing not only robot hardware and onboard computing, but also the underlying data infrastructure needed to support robotics development.
LG also plans to build AI factory reference sites powered by NVIDIA Vera Rubin in the first half of 2027. The infrastructure program includes NVIDIA DSX and the One LG end-to-end AI factory solution.
The staged schedule gives the companies a reference-site milestone before the larger facility is constructed.
Vehicle computing becomes part of the agreement
LG plans to develop a high-performance computing platform for next-generation AI-Defined Vehicles using NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion.
The automotive work aims to integrate LG’s in-vehicle infotainment and automotive software capabilities with NVIDIA’s AI-based autonomous driving technologies. That makes the agreement relevant beyond factory robotics, extending it into the computing architecture for future vehicles.
Execution now becomes the test
The breadth of the program creates a substantial coordination challenge. Humanoid development, CLOiD deployment, robot data infrastructure, AI factory construction and vehicle computing each involve different technical and commercial requirements.
To manage that work, LG and NVIDIA will operate a joint Task Force to drive execution across R&D, site validation and commercialization.
