A successor to XC-80 technology
Renishaw has announced the launch of its XC100 environmental compensator, set to debut at IMTS 2026 and AMB 2026. The new system builds on the company's proven XC-80 technology and delivers real-time automatic wavelength correction, achieving an improved 0.4 ppm linear laser measurement accuracy.
Environmental drift is the quiet enemy of precision laser calibration. Air temperature, air pressure, and relative humidity all shift the wavelength of the laser itself, and machine structures expand or contract with material temperature. The XC100 compensator addresses both sides of that problem: it measures air temperature, air pressure, and relative humidity, then automatically adjusts the measured laser wavelength. It also measures material temperature, so calibration results from machines operating at different temperatures can be normalised to a standard temperature.
Built for flexibility across the machine volume
The XC100 is designed for maximum flexibility. It supports any combination of air and material sensors, enabling comprehensive measurement of environmental conditions throughout the machine volume — a meaningful capability for large machines where conditions are rarely uniform from one end of the travel to the other.
Usability gets attention as well. A high-resolution LCD touchscreen display, flexible sensor configuration, and versatile mounting features help users adapt the system for a range of calibration applications.
On compatibility, the XC100 slots into Renishaw's existing calibration ecosystem rather than replacing it. The compensator works with the XL-80 laser interferometer, the XM-60 and XM-600 multi-axis calibrators, and CARTO software, providing a seamless experience across Renishaw's calibration product range.
