Target applications: The system is designed for microfluidics, fiber optics, biomedical devices, electronics, and advanced materials research.
- European debut: BMF will debut the microArch S150 3D printer at Formnext in Frankfurt, following its North American live debut at RAPID + TCT in April.
- Core specifications: The microArch S150 delivers 25µm optical resolution and layer thicknesses from 10–100µm, using Projection Micro Stereolithography (PµSL) technology.
- Leadership and roadmap: John Kawola stepped back from CEO in July with Ferrand assuming the President role, and BMF has teased a 2-10µm dual-resolution 3D printer in 2026.
Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF) will debut the microArch S150 3D printer to the European market at Formnext in Frankfurt, marking the system's first appearance before European manufacturers following its North American live debut at RAPID + TCT in April.
A Compact System Built for Micro-Scale Work
The microArch S150 is built on BMF's Projection Micro Stereolithography (PµSL) technology and delivers 25µm optical resolution with layer thicknesses from 10–100µm. The system is designed for applications in microfluidics, fiber optics, biomedical devices, electronics, and advanced materials research.
That specification set puts the S150 in territory where conventional desktop machines don't operate. For engineers working on microfluidic channels or fiber optic components, 25µm optical resolution is the kind of number that determines whether a part is printable at all.
Ten Years In, a Broader Push
The European debut lands as BMF celebrates its ten year anniversary. Bryan Ferrand, President of Boston Micro Fabrication, framed the launch as a marker of how the technology has matured:
"Reaching our tenth anniversary is an important milestone for BMF and gives us an opportunity to reflect on how far micro-precision 3D printing has come, as well as where it can go next. The S150 is a great example of that progress, bringing industrial-grade micro-precision capabilities to a compact, accessible platform."
Leadership Transition and What's Next
The anniversary year has also brought change at the top. BMF announced a series of leadership changes in July, with John Kawola stepping back from CEO and Bryan Ferrand assuming the role of President.
The company has also teased a new 2-10µm dual-resolution 3D printer in 2026, which would push resolution well beyond the S150's 25µm optical figure if it reaches market. For now, the Frankfurt debut gives European engineers their first hands-on look at BMF's desktop micro-precision platform — and a signal of where the company intends to compete next.
