SeQent announced the acquisition of Open Automation Software (OAS), an industrial data connectivity company that moves data between controllers, databases, and cloud services regardless of vendor. The deal extends SeQent’s portfolio from alarm notification and escalation into edge-to-cloud connectivity, data movement, historization, and visualization.

From Alarm Routing to the Data Layer

SeQent’s established platform sits where alarms become action: it ingests alarms and events from SCADA, MES, and PLC systems, then delivers notifications to two-way radios, smartphones, displays, and PA systems. OAS adds the layer underneath that response path, with native drivers for Allen-Bradley and Siemens controllers, Modbus devices, and OPC servers.

That matters in plants where connectivity is rarely uniform. OAS is built to move data between controllers, databases, and cloud services without tying the architecture to one vendor, and its platform includes the Universal Data Connector, which moves data from anywhere to anywhere.

Store-and-Forward, Logging, and Historization

Beyond protocol support, OAS provides store-and-forward buffering across machines, lines, and sites, plus high-speed logging into customer-owned databases.
