Origin story: The partnership began with a short phone call while Albert Manero was in graduate school and grew into a decade-long effort.

  • Long-running collaboration: Stratasys and Limbitless Solutions have partnered for 12 years, delivering hundreds of 3D-printed prosthetic devices to children across the United States and beyond.
  • Sustainability expansion: Stratasys donated one Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) F370 3D printer to support operations, student education, and community outreach.
  • Equipment lifecycle approach: The Stratasys CPO program refurbishes and redeploys additive manufacturing equipment, reducing waste while extending reach for purpose-driven organisations.
  • Hands-on education: A dedicated Limbitless lab at the University of Central Florida, equipped with multiple Stratasys systems, gives students direct experience with 3D printing.

A Decade-Plus of Additive Manufacturing for Social Impact

Stratasys and Limbitless Solutions are expanding their long-running partnership, placing greater emphasis on sustainability, education, and increasing access to 3D-printed prosthetics for children. The collaboration — between the 3D printing company and the University of Central Florida's non-profit research facility — has now been running for 12 years.

The results so far are substantial. The effort has delivered hundreds of 3D-printed prosthetic devices to children across the United States and beyond, with Stratasys donating materials, technology, and engineering expertise throughout the relationship.

Certified Pre-Owned Equipment at the Center of the Expansion

This year, the two organisations have sharpened their sustainability focus. Stratasys donated one Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) F370 3D printer to support ongoing operations, student education, and community outreach. The CPO program extends equipment life by refurbishing and redeploying additive manufacturing systems — an approach that reduces waste while lowering the barrier for purpose-driven organisations.

"This long-standing partnership reflects the best of what Stratasys has to offer," said Rosa Coblens, VP Sustainability & Communications at Stratasys. "Through our Mindful Manufacturing approach, we are advancing sustainability while supporting meaningful social impact. By reconditioning high-performing equipment through our Certified Pre-Owned program, we not only reduce waste but also enable purpose-driven organisations like Limbitless to extend their reach and empower more lives."

Building Skills Alongside Prosthetics

The partnership includes a dedicated Limbitless lab at the University of Central Florida, equipped with multiple Stratasys systems, where students gain hands-on experience with 3D printing. That dual mission — serving children today while training the engineers of tomorrow — is central to how both organisations frame the work.

"Stratasys has been with us since day one," added Albert Manero, PhD, Executive Director and Co-founder of Limbitless Solutions. "What started as a short phone call while I was in graduate school turned into a decade-long partnership that shows how additive manufacturing can create a tangible impact for the children we serve and the future engineers and designers working to build a more accessible world."

For manufacturing professionals, the model is worth noting: refurbished production-grade equipment, donated expertise, and an embedded university lab combine to deliver end-use medical devices and workforce development from a single partnership structure.
