Single-Side Access, No Part Handling

The RUP60 addresses a persistent shop-floor bottleneck: measuring the thickness of large parts where access is limited to a single side. Rather than moving workpieces to dedicated measurement equipment or relying on manual inspection on the machine, the probe allows for an entirely automated inspection and verification process.

The RUP60 provides automated on-machine metal thickness measurement for materials between 0.7 mm to 30 mm, using a single stylus. It works reliably with and without coupling fluid, even in harsh environments — a practical consideration for real machining conditions rather than laboratory settings.

Performance Numbers That Matter

The specifications are worth noting. Users can achieve precise thickness measurements in just two seconds per point, with accuracy better than 10 µm and repeatability of 2 µm. Connectivity and Software Ecosystem

Building on the QE radio transmission protocol, the RUP60 communicates with the machine tool controller via the RMM-QE radio receiver. Renishaw has also developed a Universal Sensor Interface (USI) to support the RUP60 and other Renishaw QE probes.

On the software side, the probe is compatible with Renishaw's Inspection Plus and Set and Inspect software, giving both new and experienced users a path to create and run measurement cycles. The RUP60 is also compatible with Renishaw Central, allowing integration into existing workflows with traceability.
